Whalebone

Whalebone is the love child project of Barcelona-born folk weeper Cecilia Duran (Cece June) and Virginia-native rock songstress Caroline Strickland . They met while sharing a lineup at the Windjammer in 2024 and began writing songs together shortly after. Their official debut came in January of 2026. A month later, they baptized the full band by playing two sold out nights at Bowery Ballroom opening for Spanish darling Guitarricadelafuente.

Despite being from different sides of the world, they share a backbone: a catholic upbringing, queerhood, and a strangely quotidian yet mystic way of seeing life. They have spent this year recording their debut album, which is set to release in 2027.
